The short version

A recruiter may have dozens of resumes to look at for a single job. They scan quickly for a match. If your resume makes that match easy to see, you get the call.

What recruiters scan first

  1. Job title and recent role: does it relate to the opening?
  2. Skills that match the job description.
  3. Experience level and location.
  4. Stability and progress across roles.
  5. Clear results or projects that prove the skills.

How tracking systems sort resumes

Many companies use software that reads resumes and ranks them against the job post. Plain text, clear headings and keywords that match the job description help. Complicated tables, images and unusual fonts can confuse the software.

Make your resume easy to scan

  • Use clear headings: Summary, Skills, Experience, Education
  • Put the most relevant skills near the top
  • Use the same words as the job description when they are true for you
  • Keep to one page for freshers, two for experienced
  • Use bullet points with results, not long paragraphs
  • Save as PDF unless asked otherwise

Red flags recruiters notice

  • Spelling and grammar mistakes
  • Unexplained long gaps or very frequent changes with no story
  • Mismatch between resume and profile or interview
  • Inflated titles or skills that are not backed by examples

Make your profile do the work too

Keep your JobKarle profile complete: skills, preferred roles, location, notice period and an updated resume. Recruiters search profiles, not only applications.
