Key Responsibilities
- Database Design & Maintenance: Create, upgrade, and structure relational or non-relational databases to ensure data integrity and scalability. [ 1 , 2 ]
- Performance Tuning: Monitor system efficiency, analyze slow queries, and optimize configurations for fast data retrieval. [ 1 , 2 ]
- Security & Compliance: Enforce strict access controls, user permissions, and security protocols to protect sensitive data against breaches and ensure compliance with regulations like GDPR. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Design reliable backup strategies, execute emergency data access plans, and test restoration procedures. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
- Collaboration & Support: Work with software developers and IT teams to integrate database architecture with business applications and troubleshoot technical bottlenecks. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
Essential Requirements & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced command of Structured Query Language (SQL) and working knowledge of Database Management Systems (DBMS) like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex performance issues, audit logs, and read execution plans.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and clear communication to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
